ON Gold Standard Whey Protein Isolate: In-Depth Review of the Best Protein Powder in the Philippines

Why is this most popular and the best on Protein Powder in the Philippines?

1. PRICE - First of all, NEVER buy at any shopping malls because they will rip you off! Even at the gyms where you train, they will also rip you off. I know because I've been there and I did my own research. I'm not some kind of rich kid who just throws away my hard earned money, I'm just an average Juan who just wants quality stuff for a fair price. So if you go at shopping malls, price for ON Gold Standard Whey Protein at these places can go as high as P2,800 for 2lbs item. But if you go to this link, price is just around P1,900! That's 42% less bro! As for the 5lbs product, they go as high as P6,500! It's so ridiculously expensive when you can get it here for almost half the price of P3,490 (46% less!)  Don't believe me? then click this link to see how much these people are deceiving us:
ON Gold Standard 2lbs
ON Gold Standard 5lbs

Seriously dude, why do they do this to us? We just want to look our best and ripping us off because we badly want to be in shape isn't fair. Anyway, the best part about this is that if you compare it to other whey protein powders out there, this brand is the cheapest but has all the necessary amount of quality protein you can find.  I hope many of you readers will tell our Bros out there that buying protein shakes at their local gym and shopping malls isn't doing them any good. Point them here instead and let's help each and every Bros out there who's trying to get that awesome body they dream of!

2. SUGAR CONTENT - This part has baffled me whenever I see other people posting about how their protein powder doesn't taste good or isn't sweet enough. I don't know if it's because Filipinos have adapted the American lifestyle that they began craving for sugar and processed foods more than ever! Even white sliced-bread here tastes like pastries! So anyway, for those of you who's more focused on the 'taste' rather than the content, news flash: whey protein powders isn't supposed to taste good! I mean think about it, you're trying to loose weight and the major part for this to work has to do with your diet, aka cutting back mainly on sugar and processed foods. So why would you drink something that has 10-15grams of sugar per scoop of protein shakes? (I'm looking at you USANA!) Optimum Nutrition on the other hand, has only 1gram of sugar per scoop and that's really freaking awesome!

Here's a comparison of the two of the most popular protein powders here in the Philippines:

USANA's Dutch Chocolate Protein Powder*:
Weight: 1lb (540grams)
Price: P1,600 ($32.95)
Protein content: 15grams
Sugar: 18grams/3scoops
Main protein ingredient: Soy Protein Isolate and Whey Protein Isolate
*note: I sampled this product since USANA's MySmart Whey Protein Shake only contains 10grams of protein.

...and then we have Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard

ON Gold Standard Whey Protein Isolate:
Weight: 2lb (909grams)
Price: P1,900 ($37.90)
Protein content: 24grams
Sugar: 1gram/1scoop
Main protein ingredient: Whey Protein Isolate

As you can see Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard outweighs USANA's product in every aspect. Yes, USANA does have a lot of vitamins and other things in there however, your main goal is to loose weight and gain muscles but you definitely won't loose weight if you're getting 18grams of sugar every time you drink that thing.

3.PROTEIN CONTENT - there are a lot of protein powders out there who has more protein content than Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard, but the only question is: are they as affordable and widely available as Optimum Nutrition? Take for example these two popular protein shakes you see in the shopping malls:

Mutant Whey 2LBS-TRIPLE CHOCO
Weight: 2lb (909grams)
Price: P1,800 ($36.73)
Protein content: 22grams
Sugar: 2.5grams/1scoop
Main protein ingredient: Whey Protein "Concentrate" (not the purest form of whey)

..Check the ingredients. So many unwanted stuff. Is that even natural?

Muscletech Nitrotech – 2 LBS
Weight: 2lb (909grams)
Price: P2,150 ($43.87)
Protein content: 30grams
Sugar: 1gram/1scoop
Main protein ingredient: Whey Protein Isolate

..this one is expensive and has a lot of unwanted ingredients too.

4. WIDELY USED -  This product has been endorsed by lots fitness celebrities on YT which also happens to be cool dudes like us: Allan Marino(Alpha M), Dom Mazzeti (BrolifeScience), etc. These guys have more than 1 million subscribers (2.7m for AlphaM and 1.9m for Dom)who religiously follow their fitness channels. They do their own research and that means something: they care for their viewers so they should endorse products that are safe and effective.
